Thomas G. Richards
is one of four children from a respected Toronto family. His father
immigrated to Canada as a child, graduated with two university degrees,
became a pilot in the Canadian Air Force, and flew supersonic fighter
jets in both Canada and Europe.
After college Mr. Richards had a successful career in retail management,
then in his mid-twenties attended university and received a Bachelor
Degree (BA) with a concentration in English Literature from the
University of Ottawa, Faculty of Arts in 1983.
Three years later he was granted a Law Degree (LLB) from the University
of Ottawa, Faculty of Law (Common Law) in 1986.
After successfully completing his Articles and the LSUC Bar Admission
Course, Mr. Richards became a lawyer and joined the Law
Society of Upper Canada in 1988. He has
practiced law since then both in Canada and overseas.
Mr. Richards is also a successful Instructor, and taught evening
law courses over a period of more than ten years at various colleges
and universities. He established a program of Western Law and
Legal English attended by lawyers and judges in the Peoples
Republic of China.
Though Mr. Richards has practiced most areas of the law, he now
restricts his practice to criminal
and immigration
law. He is designated counsel for the respected firm Get-To-Canada
Ltd.
He has strong connections with many of the vibrant multi-cultural
communities in Toronto, and is well acquainted with the needs of
new Canadians.
